Rowan Sloss BSc DipArch is an RIBA Part II architect. My Part I studies were at the Welsh School, Cardiff, and I completed Part II at Westminster University. I currently live and work in London.

I've been selected as part of a national showcase of exceptional drawings across schools of architecture for my PARADISE work. The exhibition starts in London at the Mill, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, London E17 7HA and runs from the 26th September to the 1st October. The Context website is here.

I've been awarded Blueprint Magazine's annual 'Best In Show' award for my Part II work at Westminster. Blueprint's shortlist is here.

It's a really simple conceit: the lower half of the drawing has a corner of Herculaneum up to the wall formed by the archaeological cut at the ancient coast; above it, the Castello Aragonese's tufa is hollowed out to form the church by Vignola. The two halves of the drawing share a scale and a ground datum - the latter important at Ischia to see quite how high the Castello's rock is, and at Herculaneum to show how much the sea level has changed since 79AD ...
